In fact, if you don’t take the time to relax and rejuvenate, stress often increases and productivity decreases.
Having just returned from my annual trip to Kauai, Hawaii, I can easily understand why so many of us think we need a vacation to wind down. And yes, there is certainly something to be said about getting away from the day-to-day grind. That being said, the real secret is to incorporate a practice of rejuvenation into your daily routine, so that it becomes as common as brushing your teeth. This practice provides the framework needed to consistently operate at peak performance and to avoid the burnout that comes from overdoing things.
Understanding the importance of downtime is critical to your ability to unwind, so you can recharge. It is also a vital secret to becoming a millionaire, a top producer, or a success at achieving anything.
In my second book, The 7 Principles of Becoming a Millionaire for Life, Powerful Lessons To Create Wealth, Health, and Happiness, I refer to millionaires with amazing lives as Millionaires for Life. In addition to having significant wealth, these people also have excellent health, great relationships, and peace of mind. They achieve an amazing life by taking time to recharge their batteries. They recharge on a regular basis.
Research shows that incorporating downtime on a regular basis is as important as the action we take!
Part of refueling includes getting adequate sleep. Experts agree that you need between seven and nine hours of sleep per night to properly recharge. Rarely is less than seven hours of sleep an adequate amount of time to allow your body and mind to rejuvenate. The result is often that you will operate at sub-par performance. People who brag about getting by on four to six hours of sleep per night are fooling themselves. They are also dramatically increasing their odds of obesity, cancer, diabetes, and other health problems.
Another important habit to rejuvenate is to stay properly hydrated by drinking adequate water. While experts vary on the “right amount” of water intake, 50% of your body weight in ounces is a good starting point. If you exercise, then you may need more.
Your mental state is also important, including your thoughts. Strategies to control your thoughts such as focused breathing, meditation, chants, and yoga can be very effective. Taking a walk, watching a funny movie, or reading a personal growth book can also do wonders to re-energize your focus and excitement for achieving your goals and dreams.
While we each need to find out exactly what works for us, taking time to rest, relax, and rejuvenate on a regular basis will do wonders for your business and your life.
Including quiet time in your daily schedule provides you space that allows you to attract what you want in your life.
On your journey to financial freedom, to becoming a millionaire, or achieving whatever your heart desires, make sure to include a ritual of regularly rejuvenating – you will be so glad you did!
